Twitter Stock Rises. Why?

Elon Musk has had some very prominent involvement on Twitter in the past. He is very active on the social media platform, and some of his tweets have made headlines for potentially influencing the markets pretty greatly. He once tweeted about the cryptocurrency Dogecoin, and the next day its value rose immensely. Not many people on Twitter can have such powerful tweets, but Musk's relevance and importance with Tesla, SpaceX, and other industries he is involved in gives him immense power that attracts a large audience.

In an article from CNN Business, it says that, "Elon Musk. The Tesla and SpaceX CEO sparked a deluge of headlines last week after disclosing that he’d become Twitter’s largest shareholder. A day later, the company said it would add him to its board of directors for a two-year term — a move Musk welcomed on Twitter. But the saga took another turn Sunday night, when Twitter CEO Parag Agrawal said in a tweet that Musk would not be joining the board after all."

Due to his active engagement on the platform and being the largest stock holder of the company, Twitter recently offered Musk a spot on the Board of Directors. It was initially thought that Musk was going to accept this role, and Twitter's stock price jumped up. Once again, this shows that Musk's involvement with Twitter has the power to move markets. Despite not taking the position after all, it raises some speculation about why exactly he might want to sit on the Board of the social media company.

Maybe Musk had intentions to change how Twitter operates, or maybe he wants to reinstate Donald Trump's account after hinting that Twitter does not allow for fair freedom of speech, but either way, I'm sure he had some precise intention. At the very least, it created a bit of a frenzy that could have had lasting impacts if he accepted the position. He is powerful in many areas, and further extending his influence to social media in a governing position is one more reason why he is the richest man in the world- because he is not afraid to explore uncharted territories.

Elon is a character for sure. Not that I know him very well, but I am always surprised by the headline. "Musk buys Twitter to reinstate free speech" then "Musk turns down position that would give him power to do so." So he doesn't want anything changed after all? He can't be so delusional to throw around $44B can he? I am interested to see what he ends up doing at Twitter and how their policies will change. I hope he is able to have a positive impact there, becuase I do believe they have a sensorship problem that, much like Facebook's fake news problem, was created from the inside. I believe they can improve and I hope this crazy…

Elon Musk totally reminds me of the Iron Man, Tony Stark. He says whatever he wants, and has the stones and money to make whatever he wants happen. I like the idea of hime owning Twitter because he is a very outspoken person who I feel like has no intention to hide the truth and also he is impervious to bribes because he is the richest man in the world. I think it is crazy that all Elon Musk has to do is go on his phone and type a message on social media to completely influence the market. He is definitely one of the most interesting and intelligent individuals I've seen.

We are quite literally witnessing history in watching Musk purchase Twitter. His overwhelming support from the company is unheard of. It instills fear in the minds of many, however, I think that is largely those who fear capitalism. His ensuing comment of "Next im gonna buy Facebook, then delete it lol," is what really got me... Great article!
